The Biorenewables Development Centre, Chain Biotech and Teesside University worked together on a proof-of-concept project, looking at scaling up probiotic organisms to treat illnesses such as crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

The Biorenewables Development Centre, Starbons Ltd and Teesside University worked together on a proof-of-concept project, they looked at a range of research and development opportunities including improving and scaling up damaged starch to increase the shelf life of food products.

THYME is a collaboration between the Universities of Teesside, Hull and York to boost the bioeconomy across Yorkshire, the Humber region and Tees Valley. This video explains how Teesside University have worked with the University of Hull on the modelling and behaviour of probiotics for gut health as well as different training opportunities THYME has offered the researchers.

 

Developing outreach activities

THYME is a collaboration between the Universities of Teesside, Hull and York to boost the bioeconomy across Yorkshire, the Humber region and Tees Valley. Teesside University have worked on several outreach projects on the bioeconomy such as developing a biorefinery in Minecraft with the Biorenewables Development Centre to working with the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration to develop a series of videos on ‘medicines from microbes’ for primary schools.
