The importance of small markets and producers to the Bioeconomy

In this short and uplifting documentary film, University of Hull researchers Dr Irene Sotiropolou and Professor Pauline Deutz explore concepts around the bioeconomy including why small markets and small-scale producers are important to the economy and wider society.

Filmed by Astor Productions at Beverley Outdoor Market in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Bite the Biscuit Neighbourhood Market in Hull, the film includes interviews with various small producers, stallholders and market managers, as well as the academics themselves.

The resulting film is a celebration of local markets and their key place in the economy.

The film was produced as part of the THYME Project, a collaboration between the Universities of Teesside, Hull and York with funding from the Research England Connecting Capabilities Fund.
