New Publication in Journal of Membrane Science
Research led by Dr Xuebin He at the University of Hull in collaboration with Dr Mark Gronnow at the BDC was published in the Journal of Membrane Science. This work was partly funded by the THYME project and showed that pervaporation (PV) has a great potential in the separation of butanol aqueous solutions. This emerging technique with advanced membrane materials offers economic and environmental benefits.
Additional THYME funding was awarded to the project involving two industry partners: Chip(s)Board, Nanjing Jiusi High-Tech Co. The new funding will further investigate the recovery of biofuels and bio-chemicals from the fermentation broth using integrated membrane technology. The technology will be expanded to a new range of bio-chemicals like lactic acid.
