InsBio win final of the International G-BiB competition

InsBio from the University of York have won the final of the G-BiB competition which took place on 17th February 2021. Against stiff competition from Biointerio from Germany and Life2Balcony from Finland, Alex Setchfield and Daniel Leadbeater pitched an excellent business idea to transform inedible crop residues into sustainable insect feeds to fuel the ever-growing Black Soldier Fly protein market and its scale-up.

The judging panel included Dr Poonam Malik from Scottish Enterprise, Stefan Fassbender from High-Tech Grunderfonds and Maija Pohjakallio from Sulapac Ltd.

From winning the competition, Alex and Daniel will now access business mentoring from High Tech Grunderfonds, the seed investor for innovative technologies and business models in Germany which will allow them to further develop their idea.
